Clean urine or stool container (white top) without preservatives preferred
Stool container with Cary-Blair preservative (orange top) is acceptable
Stability
24 hours at room temperature, 72 hours at 2-8°C
Ideal samples are less than 24 hours old

Incorrectly labeled sample
Formed stool
Preservative other than Cary-Blair
Analytical Time
Performed once daily at approximately 2:30 pm
Additional testing is done at the discretion of the pathologist
