Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Light-blue top (citrate)
Specimen Volume: Full tube
Specimen Minimum Volume: Tube must be filled to the acceptability line
Specimen Stability: 8 hours ambient
Collection Instructions:
1. Tube must be full. (Do not underfill or overfill tube.)
2. Send specimen Room Temperature in original tube.
If collect time is 08:00 - 12:00 any day or 14:00-18:00 Monday - Friday: Send unspun tube at room temperature.
If the specimen is collected at any other time: Send frozen platelet poor plasma. See Alternative Specimen Type procedure above for preparation instructions. Sample should be transported between ice packs.
